7 Crore Scam in Supplyco; Former Food Minister’s Assistant Private Secretary Arrested

Kochi: Former Food Minister P Tilothaman Assistant Private Secretary has been arrested for defrauding Rs 7 crore in the name of Supplyco. It is indicated that he has received help from within the food department. Satish Chandran, a native of Elamkulam, Kochi, who is on remand in the case, was in the personal staff of Minister Thilothaman for three months.

He was fired from the personnel staff after it was alleged that he was involved in various types of frauds. Last year, the Kochi police had registered a case against Satish Chandran for cheating him by promising him a job. Satish Chandran, who has been arrested, is a retired Assistant Manager of Human Resource Department of Supplyco. Satish Chandran stole more than 7 crore rupees by giving fake purchase order of Supplyco to three North Indian companies and then bought and sold corn.

The fraud was done by preparing purchase order on fake letterhead and using Supplyco’s GST number. Minister’s Asst. When he was a private secretary, he extorted Rs 11 lakh from a native of Malappuram by promising to hire him as an electrical engineer in Kochi Metro. He is the leader of a gang that extorted money from many people by promising to get jobs in places like Devaswom Board College, Civil Supplies and Camco.
