Chief Minister’s attitude was the reason for the election defeat, Thomas Chazhikkadan

Some of the statements taken by the Chief Minister caused the election defeat. LDF candidate from Kottayam and senior member of Kerala Congress (M) Thomas Chazhikadan has come out with severe criticism against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Chazhikadan said that the Chief Minister’s attitude led to the election defeat. The criticism was made at the steering committee meeting of the party held in Kottayam.

Chazhikadan raised in the meeting that there was a backlash, including that the Chief Minister publicly scolded him at the Nava Kerala meeting held in Pala. In the meeting, Thomas Chazhikadan also demanded an inquiry into the fact that he, the LDF candidate, did not get CPM votes in the constituency.

Meanwhile, Muslim League State General Secretary PMA Salam has severely criticized that the reason for the CPM’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections is not only the Chief Minister, but also the fact that the left party has lost and thrown its cap. The Chief Minister should look at his own face before looking at whether the League has lost face. Salam also says that the Chief Minister’s intolerance towards criticism against him within the party is being used against the League

Now what the Chief Minister says should not be taken seriously. Not only the election defeat, but also the state council that followed it was heavily criticized against the Chief Minister’s style. From fighters Shaji to Sitaram Yechury, the cause of failure has come to the CM.

Naturally, he chose the League to vent its frustrations. He should reconsider what is the state of the chief minister’s face in the party and in front of the public before looking for the face of the League. The CPM itself analyzed that a section of people in the state did not vote. From pensioners to employees, no section voted. The administration is responsible. He added that this is the impact of governance in the hands of those who do not know how to govern.

Why did the CPM lose in the Lok Sabha elections? Some of the reasons given by state secretary MV Govindan after the five-day party leadership meeting. While standing as a part of the India Front, it was a limitation to compete in Kerala. Congress was likely to be at the center and the minority groups voted for them.

The Muslim extremist groups Jamaat-e-Islami, Popular Front and SDPI have created communal polarization in favor of the UDF.

There was a leakage in Ezhava and backward votes which were the strength of the left parties. There was a situation where the SNDP leadership was moving towards Sangh Parivar communal politics. The Sangh Parivar entered the SNDP through Tushar Vellappally-led BDJS. The efforts made by SNDP Yuga General Secretary Vellappally Natesan’s wife and son for RSSization have come to light. The approach of SNDP leaders is different from Sreenarayanaguru’s views.

A section of Christians favored the BJP. Threats, funding issues and so on are the reasons. In some places even bishops attended their events. A part of the 86,000 votes that the Congress lost in Thrissur from last time were Christian votes.

Although the cause of economic crisis can be said to be central, the reflection of the problems caused by it turned against the LDF. The benefits could not be given properly to the people. The welfare pension and suspension of DA of the employees were against those sections.

The opposition and the media constantly tried to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family by attacking them and influenced the people.
