Defamation Case: SocialActivist Medha Patkar Sentenced to Five Months in Jail and Fined Rs 10 Lakh

Delhi: Social activist Medha Patkar has been sentenced to five months in jail and fined Rs 10 lakh in a defamation case. The court’s action is in a defamation case filed by the current Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Naveen Saxena, in 2001. The court sentenced Patkar after considering the evidence in the case which lasted more than two decades.

Delhi Saket Court sentenced Medha Patkar to five months imprisonment. Medha Patkar’s sentencing has been suspended for a month to approach the Supreme Court.
