Heavy rain lashes Kerala; yellow alert issued in nine districts today

Central Meteorological Department has warned that the rain will be heavy in the state today. Meteorological department has issued yellow alert in nine districts today. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The Meteorological Department has also predicted the possibility of rain for the next five days.

The Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in the following districts. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that in the next three hours, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph. Till 11.30 tonight, there is a possibility of 0.5 to 1.2 meter high waves and storm surge along the Kerala coast with a speed of between 10 cm and 50 cm per second.
