Heavy rain likely in Kerala for next seven days; Fishing operations restricted

A cyclone has formed in the South-Eastern Arabian Sea off the coast of Kerala. As a result of this, strong westerly winds are prevailing on the Kerala coast, according to the Meteorological Centre. Moderate to moderate rainfall with thunder/lightning/wind is likely over the state for the next 7 days.

The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain from May 31 to June 2. Fishing should not be done in south Kerala coast and Lakshadweep area. The Central Meteorological Department has also informed that there is no disruption to fishing in the Karnataka coasts.

31-05-2024 & 01-06-2024: 35 to 45 kmph over Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar adjoining south Tamil Nadu coast, Maldives region, southern parts of south west Bay of Bengal, south east Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and some Chance of gusty winds up to 55 km/h and bad weather conditions at times.

02-06-2024: Chance of strong winds and inclement weather with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional up to 55 kmph over Kanyakumari coast, south Tamil Nadu coast adjoining Gulf of Mannar, south central east Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.

03-06-2024: Speed ​​of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional up to 55 kmph over Kanyakumari coast, south Tamilnadu coast adjoining Gulf of Mannar, south Bay of Bengal adjoining central Bay of Bengal, north Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining central west Bay of Bengal Chance of strong winds and inclement weather.

04-06-2024: Chance of strong winds and bad weather over South Bay of Bengal adjoining Central Bay of Bengal and North Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining Central West Bay of Bengal with speed up to 35 to 45 kmph and at few occasions up to 55 kmph. Fishing is not allowed in the above areas.
