Bengaluru: A woman was stabbed to death inside her house for refusing a marriage proposal. Anjali Ambigar (20), a resident of Hubballi Veerapur Oni, was stabbed to death by Girish Sawant (21).
The incident took place on Wednesday morning in Hubballi, Karnataka. It is alleged that Girish Sawant, an auto driver, had been harassing the woman for a long time. He had earlier asked his family to marry Anjali. The family objected to this. After this, the accused came home on Wednesday and killed the woman.
Parthi broke into the house and asked the girl to come with him to Mysuru and marry him. He also asked the grandmother of the young woman to let her go with him. The woman refused. With this, the accused attacked him with the knife he was carrying. It is reported that the accused stabbed Anjali several times.
Meanwhile, the family alleged that the police did not take any action despite filing a complaint against Girish earlier. Anjali worked in a canteen and lived with her sister and grandmother. The girl’s parents had died earlier. Meanwhile, Girish’s harassment started. Even when he proposed marriage several times, the young woman rejected it.
