Shafi Parambil resigned from MLA post , Resignation was submitted directly to the Speaker’s office

Shafi Parampil, who won as a Lok Sabha member from Vadakara, has resigned as MLA from Palakkad constituency. The resignation was submitted directly to the office of Speaker AN Shamseer.

With this, the by-election in Palakkad constituency is confirmed. Palakkad is a constituency that stood with the UDF in the last three assembly elections.

Shafi Parambal responded that he would like to express his gratitude to the people of Palakkad and that being a member of the legislature is an important achievement in life. Assembly will be missed. He added that there is merit in Oommen Chandy being an MLA in the government and being an opposition MLA for two terms.

When Shafi Parampil decided to contest in Vadakara, discussions about Palakkad substitutes were actively raised. The names of Youth Congress president Rahul Mangkoottathil and VT Balram are being actively considered by the UDF.

Palakkad is a constituency that stood with the UDF in the last three assembly elections. In the last election, Shafi won by 3859 votes when the BJP field was filled by fielding Metroman E. Sreedharan. UDF got 52,779 votes from Palakkad assembly constituency this time in the Lok Sabha elections. UDF got 9707 more votes than the second placed BJP
