Pune: Two engineering students died in an accident between a truck and a bike on Ahmed Nagar Road in Chandan Nagar. Three youths who were college students were traveling on the bike. Two of them were returning from college to their hometown in Latur, Maharashtra.
Another student came down with a bike to drop them off at the railway station. The truck rammed into the back of the bike on the way. One of the youths died on the spot. Another seriously injured person was admitted to the hospital but died there, police said.
After the accident, the truck driver tried to escape without stopping the vehicle and was stopped by the police and locals at a distance of about 300 meters. He was later arrested. A case has been registered against various departments. The police said that the investigation into the incident is in progress.
