Venpalavattam accident; Police registered a case against the woman who was driving the scooter

A case has been registered against the woman who was riding a scooter in the accident on the Venpalavattam flyover on the national highway. A person was killed in an accident when a scooter went out of control and fell into a 23-feet deep service road. Two people were seriously injured. Simi (34) died at Vyalinkara house in Nedumum, Thiruvananthapuram. Daughter Shivanya and sister Sini (32) were injured. A case has been registered against Sini who was driving the scooter.

A case has been registered for careless and excessive speeding. Police say this is what caused the accident. The three were returning from attending the funeral of a close relative at Mayyanat in Kollam. The tragic incident took place yesterday at half past noon.

While going down the Venpalavattam flyover on the Kazhakoottam-Kovalam bypass, the scooter lost control and crashed into the concrete side wall. The trio then rose and tumbled over the two-foot-high side wall. Simi hit his head on the service road and fell. The helmet was thrown off. Sini fell into the drain next to the road and Shivanya over Simi. The scooter hit the flyover itself. The autorickshaw workers who were nearby rushed the three to the hospital but Simi could not be saved.

Sini lives in Kovalam and sister Simi lives in Nalanchira, her husband’s house. Sini’s decision was to go to Kovalam after dropping Simi in Chaka. Meanwhile, the accident happened.
