Hemant Soran sworn in as Chief Minister of Jharkhand

Ranchi: Hemant Soran was re-sworn as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The Governor administered the oath at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan. The swearing-in was at 5 pm at Raj Bhavan. Soren resigned from Raj Bhavan five months ago.

Former Chief Ministers Shibu Soren and Champai Soren attended the event. He was arrested by the ED in January on charges of land fraud and was released on bail last week.

With assembly elections in Jharkhand due in a few months, there were indications that Champai Soren would continue till then. However, it was agreed to make Hemant Soren the leader of the legislative party again in the meeting of the India Alliance held yesterday.

‘Five months ago, arrogant people, drunk with power, tried to silence me. Today, the voice of the people of Jharkhand will rise again,’ said Hemant Soren before the oath-taking ceremony.
