PM Modi’s Upcoming Russia Visit to Include Talks with President Vladimir Putin

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Moscow on Monday for the annual India Russia summit. Modi’s visit is at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Austria is after forty years. This is Modi’s first visit to Russia after the war in Ukraine.

The visit is on July 8 and 9. The leaders will review relations between the two countries in various fields and share views on regional and global issues of common interest, the ministry said.

This is PM Modi’s first trip to Russia since the Russia-Ukraine issues started. He was last in Russia in 2019 to attend an economic conclave. In February 2022, Russia-Ukraine relations deteriorated. Putin and Modi met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Uzbekistan in September 2022.

After the Russia summit, the Prime Minister will travel to Austria. The visit is on July 9 and 10. The Prime Minister, who will arrive in Vienna, will visit Austrian President Alexander van der Belle and hold talks with the country’s Chancellor Karl Neuhammer. The duo will then meet business leaders of both countries.

This visit also has the distinction of an Indian Prime Minister coming to Austria after 41 years since Indira Gandhi’s visit in 1983.
