4 dead, 56 injured in a chemical factory blast in Mumbai

Mumbai: Four people died and 56 were injured in a fire at a chemical factory in Thane Dombivali. The explosion occurred at 1.30 pm on Thursday after the boiler exploded in the factory. It is reported that many people are trapped inside the factory. Officials said that the four bodies found so far at the scene were charred beyond recognition.

Following the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said eight people were evacuated from the factory. Arrangements are in place to treat the injured. He informed that NDRF and TDRF teams have been called. Rescue operation is going on.

Eyewitnesses say that they heard three loud explosions from the factory. Fire brigade and ambulance are on the spot. The fire has also spread to two other buildings nearby, including a car showroom. The impact of the explosion shattered the windows of nearby houses and the impact affected at least five companies in the area.
