Centre cracks down on Illegal mobile connections, 15,600 to be disconnected in Kerala

New Delhi: The Center is preparing to take action against 15,600 mobile connections in the state. Action will be taken against the connections suspected to have been taken using fake documents. 6.8 lakh connections in the country are under the shadow of doubt

The KYC check of these connections will be re-checked before taking action, failing which the SIM will be blocked. The Center has ordered the telecom companies to complete the inspection within 60 days.

In the last one year, the Department of Telecom has canceled 1.58 crore fraudulent mobile connections across the country. Most of the fraudulent SIM cards were canceled through the Centre’s artificial intelligence based fake SIM card (ASTR).
