Kochi: Jisha’s mother is happy with the court verdict upholding the death sentence of accused Amreeul Islam in the Jisha murder case. This is the expected verdict. Daughter got justice. The High Court upheld the death sentence of Ameerul Islam, the accused in the case of rape and murder of law student Jisha. The court also rejected the appeal filed by Ameerul Islam seeking cancellation of the death sentence. . The judgment was delivered by a division bench comprising Justices P.B Suresh Kumar and S Manu.

In December 2017, the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court sentenced Amreeul Islam to death in the Jisha murder case. The decision of the High Court has come on an application filed by the state government to confirm this. The Division Bench of the High Court heard the arguments in detail on the appeal of the accused and the application of the Government.
