Kozhikode: An employee of Beverages Corporation committed suicide due to stress over non-payment of salary. K. Sasikumar (56), a native of Ramanattukara Adivaram, hanged himself behind the house. Sivakumar, a LD clerk at the Bevco Pavamani Road outlet, has not received his salary for the past nine months.
Earlier, he was suspended from service for not showing up for work. After his wife Liji and sons Sayanth and Theertha met the MD and requested him, Sasikumar was reinstated. But the salary was not received.
According to his wife, Sasikumar was to receive Rs 1 lakh as bonus Was supposed to get salary yesterday. But a complaint against Sasikumar was received by the superiors yesterday. Sasikumar did not get his salary yesterday as expected. After this, Sasikumar was found hanging dead behind the house yesterday evening.
