Heavy rains continue in the state, Rain warning for 5 days, Severe cyclone threat on West Bengal coast

Heavy rains continue in the state . Rain is expected to continue for five days. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in various districts today due to heavy rains. A red alert was announced in Ernakulam district on Thursday as heavy rains continued. A yellow alert has been announced in the district today.

Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts are on orange alert today. A yellow alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts today and in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts tomorrow.

Heavy rains are continuing in all the districts of the state. Ernakulam and Thrissur districts received heavy rain on Thursday. There is a warning that it will rain in Ernakulam today. Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are likely to experience heavy rain with thundershowers at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts and light rain at isolated places in other districts.

The low pressure over central West Bay of Bengal and adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal has turned into a strong low pressure over central West Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move northeastwards and strengthen as an extreme low pressure over central Bay of Bengal today. According to the Central Meteorological Department, it is likely to make landfall as a cyclonic storm over the Central East Bay of Bengal on the morning of May 25 and then as a severe cyclone on the coast of Bangladesh and near West Bengal by the evening of May 26.
