Alakot: The court remanded the husband and mother-in-law for 14 days in the case of the newly-wed taking her own life. The deceased is Delna (23), daughter of Puthanpura Binoy of Chonokund. Sanoop Antony (24) and mother Soli Antony (47) were arrested by the Alakode police at Kalamthiparam in Pariyaram.
The newly wed came to her own home from her husband’s house and died while being treated after ingesting poison. Delna was hospitalized a week ago. He died on Saturday. The case was registered on the complaint of Delna’s parents. Taliparam Dysp. The arrest was made on the instructions of P. Pramod. A case has been registered in the name of domestic violence and dowry abuse.
The marriage was four months ago. The parents’ complaint is that they forced Delna to go to her own house and mentally tortured her by demanding 80 pav of gold and due to this Delna committed suicide.
The statement of Kundamangalam Magistrate Delna was recorded while she was undergoing treatment. Several times the police had taken detailed statements from Delna’s family members.
