Security alert announced in four coastal areas

Thiruvananthapuram: Sea attacks at various places in the state. The coastal areas of Alappuzha, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts were hit by sea. In Thiruvananthapuram, from Poowar to Poonthura, the sea leveled up in the coastal region. Kovalam has also been closed to tourists due to the inundation. At Alappuzha, the sea rose on the shore of Mararikulam. There was a sea storm at Perinjanam beach in Thrissur from noon today. The beaches are in areas like Perinjanam Samiti Beach, Kaypamangalam Vanchipura. Big waves are hitting the shore.

At Perinjanam Samiti Beach, the sea water crossed the sea wall and entered the shore. The Varaham group’s fishing nets have been destroyed by water and mud. The boat and other fishing equipment were quickly moved away from the coastal area by the locals to avoid further damage. Fishermen said that there was also a sea eddy at the Kaipamangalam Company Kadav beach in the morning.

Strong sea damage was felt at Perinjanam beach in Thrissur. The sea attack which started from 12 noon on Sunday is still going on. Many boats and nets were destroyed in the storm. The workers say that it is a phenomenon called Themmar. The workers also said that they had seen a storm in the sea on Sunday morning.

The situation is dire in areas like Valiyathura, Pozziyur and Poonthura. Rough seas are also strong in Anchutheng and Varkala areas.
Houses were destroyed in the stormy sea in Pozziyur. Shops in the coastal areas of Kovalam have been inundated. Subsequently, a temporary ban was imposed on tourists in the area. Going into the sea is also prohibited.

The situation is also dire in Alappuzha. The sea attack is also severe in Purakkad, Valanjavehi, Cherthala and Pallithote in the district. Aratupuzha is also heavily affected by the sea. Traffic stopped on Thirkunnapuzha-Valiyazhikekal road. The warning is from the Oceanographic Research Center. The warning is that there is a possibility of high and strong waves and storm surges.
