New York: Yoga lovers gather at Times Square to celebrate International Yoga Day. Thousands of yoga enthusiasts and practitioners converged on Times Square for day-long sessions ahead of the commemoration of International Yoga Day.

As yoga enthusiasts gear up to celebrate International Yoga Day, which is observed on June 21 every year, the Consulate General of India in New York has organized special yoga sessions at Times Square in association with Times Square Alliance.

Richa Dhekne, a yoga instructor and breath meditation teacher with over two decades of experience as a volunteer and faculty member of the Art of Living Foundation, led the yoga and meditation program hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York.

Several other yoga teachers and experts led various meditations, exercises and breathing sessions throughout the day in Times Square. Thousands of people participated in the daily activities. As you can see, they have yoga participants from many countries and it will continue all day today,” said Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York.

Pradhan said around 8,000-10,000 participants are expected. The theme of Yoga Day 2024 is ‘Self for Society’. Pradhan responded that he was sure it would inspire all those attending here today and in various other parts of the United States.
