Bad news for PUBG gamers in India

Starting today, October 30, Indian gamers will not be able to access PUBG Mobile, the sleeper hit mobile game. After PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were banned in India, the news came as a huge disappointment to the Indian gamer community. However, there was still a ray of hope as many users were still able to play the game. PUBG Mobile apps remained accessible in the country for users who already had them installed on their phones, tablets and PCs. But, now PUBG has confirmed that both PUBG Mobile and PUBG Lite will stop working in India from October 30 , today onwards. This comes after Tencent Games announced that it will terminate all service and access for users in India for both the games from October 30. While users could no longer download game from Google Play Store or the Apple iOS Store, those who already had them installed on their devices could access the game. But now the company has terminated all services and user access in India to PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite.

In a Facebook post, PUBG Mobile India said that all the publishing rights for PUBG Mobile will be returned to the owner of the PUBG Intellectual property – PUBG Corporation. The decision comes two months after the government banned the game along with more than 100 other apps with links to China. The game was banned in the second wave of Chinese apps ban under section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2009.
