Bobby Chemmannur Arrested for Selling Tea Powder with Lucky Draw Tickets

Kalpatta: Case against Bobby Chemmannur for selling lucky draw tickets with tea powder. Meppadi Police registered the case on the complaint of Wayanad District Assistant Lottery Officer. The case has been filed under various sections of the Lotteries Regulation Act, including fraud and illegal conduct of lotteries.

Boche Tea Lucky Draw was a coupon for a prize of Rs 10 Lakhs on purchase of tea powder. Special shops were opened for this purpose in various places and the project got a lot of publicity. The lucky draw was conducted in the name of ‘Boche Bhumipatra’, a company owned by Bobby Chemmannur. Boche tea packets contain products sold by Fiji Cart, a company headed by Boche.

Apart from tea powder, it also has other products. Boche Tea Lucky Draw will award 30 coupons to those who purchase this packet. It will be drawn daily. Daily prizes range from Rs 100 to Rs 10 lakhs. The company also says that it will give a bumper gift of Rs 25 crore.

In the FIR, it is said that lottery tickets are being sold along with packets of tea powder under the guise of promoting the sale of tea powder. The FIR also states that due to daily drawing and distribution of prizes, the state government’s lottery sales are decreasing and the government is suffering losses. The Lottery Directorate has also started an investigation into the incident.
