DGP Resolves Land Transaction Controversy, Returns Money to Settle Case

The land deal controversy involving state DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib has been settled. The DGP returned the money to the complainant, Umar Sharif. Ummer Sharif, a native of Vashuthakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, had lodged a complaint. 33 lakhs with interest was returned. The court had ordered the confiscation of 10.5 cents worth of land in the name of his wife. The court ruled that the forfeiture will be waived if the pre-purchased amount is returned.

The complainant told the court that he had received the money. The next step would be to avoid land confiscation. Ramya petition was filed in the court. On June 22, 2023, Umar Sharif entered into an agreement to buy the land in the name of Farida Fatima, wife of DGP. The contract was to buy the 10.5 cent property for Rs 74 lakh. It was agreed that the land should be registered and given within two months. 30 lakhs was given to DGP as advance.

25 lakh through bank and Rs 5 lakh in cash to DGP’s office. But when the DGP demanded more amount, the complainant demanded to see the land title. Subsequently, during the investigation conducted by Umar Sharif, it was found that this place has a liability of Rs. 26 lakhs with SBI Bank.
