High Alert Issued: Yellow Warnings in Four Districts, Threat of Rogue Waves and High Tides

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of rain in various districts in the coming hours. It has been warned that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the coming hours.

According to the Central Meteorological Department, strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour are likely in these districts and light to moderate rain at isolated places in other districts. Yellow alert has been announced today in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain is predicted in these districts.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of black sea phenomenon and high waves along the coast of Kerala and Tamil Nadu till 11.30 tonight. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should be extra cautious, officials said. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is no disruption to fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.

Gulf of Mannar, adjoining south Tamil Nadu coast, northern parts of Southeast Arabian Sea, south Bay of Bengal, central Bay of Bengal adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, north Andhra Pradesh coast with gusty winds of 35 to 45 kmph and at some occasions up to 55 kmph today. Bad weather is also likely.

People in danger zones should evacuate according to the instructions of the authorities as the rough seas are likely to intensify. Fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) must be safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured. Trips to the beach and activities in the sea should be completely avoided.
