Five people arrested in Lady Gaga dognapping case

Five people have been arrested over the violent theft of two French bulldogs belonging to US artist Lady Gaga. In February attackers shot dog walker Ryan Fischer in the chest and took Lady Gaga’s dogs, Koji and Gustav. Mr Fischer had to have part of his lung removed but survived the attack, and has since left the hospital.

On Thursday Los Angeles police announced they had charged three suspects for the incident itself as well as two others as accomplices. James Jackson, Jaylin White and Lafayette Whaley – aged 18, 19, and 27, respectively – have been charged with attempted murder and robbery. Jennifer McBride, 50, and Harold White are charged as accessories to the crime, officials said. Jackson allegedly shot dog walker Ryan Fischer before he and his cohorts fled with uninjured dogs Koji and Gustav. McBride allegedly claimed she found the dogs to collect a $500,000 reward from the pop star. At the arraignment, Jackson’s bail was set at $3,030,000, Jaylin White’s bail was set at $1,050,000 and the judge ordered Whaley held on $1,100,000 bail. All four men charged were “documented gang members”, the release said, without giving details. The suspects were not aware Lady Gaga owned the dogs, and stole them for their high value.
