Price Waterhouse Coopers has appointed Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case, to Kerala State IT Infrastructure Limited under the IT department following all the procedures. PWC has stated this in its reply to the notice issued by Kerala State IT KSITIIL to cancel the Space Park Consultancy contract. The PWC has denied all allegations in the notice.
KSITIL’s lawyer said that all the procedures related to the appointment of Swapna Suresh have been followed. At the same time, he was also the chairman of the company. The Chief Secretary’s Committee found that Swapna was appointed on the recommendation of Shivashankar.
The IT department sent a notice to the PWC through an attorney to cancel the contract after Dream was arrested in a gold smuggling case and the degree presented for the appointment was found to be fake. The notice stated that the contract was breached by sending a person with a criminal background and forged educational qualifications to the government system. The notice sought compensation for breach of contract.
KSITIL has stated that it is up to the government to decide whether to exclude PWC from the K Phone scheme in the wake of the controversy over the appointment of Swapna Suresh.
