The cabinet will decide today whether to go for a complete lockdown in the wake of the spread of COVID in the state. The current understanding is that restrictions at the local level are sufficient and that there is no need to go into a complete lockdown. As the assembly session has been adjourned, a decision will be taken today to issue an ordinance to pass the finance bill.

Today’s special Cabinet meeting is being held through video conference. For the first time in the history of the state, the cabinet meeting will be held online today. The meeting is scheduled for 10 am. In the context of the COVID restrictions, the cabinet meeting is being held online. Ministers can sit at home or in the office. At the same time, an all-party meeting convened by the government agreed not to have a complete lockdown.

The Chief Minister made it clear, however, that he would not hesitate to close it again if the situation worsened. Earlier in the day, the Legislative Assembly had changed its name. In case the assembly session is adjourned, the cabinet will decide whether to pass the ordinance or not.
