Hezbollah Strikes Back, Destroys Israeli Arsenal and Kills Soldiers

Hizbollah’s first major counterattack since the start of Israel’s war in Lebanon. Five Israeli reserve soldiers were killed and 19 wounded in clashes with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon. Some of them were seriously injured. 385 days after the start of the Israeli war, this is the first time that the army has been subjected to such a heavy setback and attack.

Never before has such a large-scale attack been carried out in a single incident in Gaza. The reason for such a precise attack is the Iran-made missile Hezbollah. The soldiers were there to receive a delivery of war equipment from Israel. Hezbollah’s missile attack on the building came when about 50 soldiers had arrived at the building where the weapons were stored. Several missiles arrived but one hit near the building where the soldiers were stationed. The occupants of an Israeli logistics vehicle were also injured. The Israeli army itself admitted that members of the logistics convoy were also injured.

5 soldiers died on the spot while around 19 soldiers were injured. Of the 19 injured, four soldiers are in serious condition. The injured reservists, along with another reservist who was seriously injured in clashes in south Lebanon on Friday morning, were transferred to hospitals for treatment. With this, Israel had to face a heavy counterattack in Lebanon in the last 24 hours. A total of 5 soldiers died while around 25 were injured. Among the dead was a soldier named Idan, a relative of Sahi Idan, who was taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza after he was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7. He is 51 years old.

The IDF said several Hezbollah operatives were holed up in the area and all of them were killed. And another tunnel found by the army near the border served as a weapons depot for Hezbollah’s elite Radwan forces. The military said it could have been used in a planned attack by Israel. It also said that both tunnels were destroyed. The army said reservists seized dozens of Hezbollah weapons during their operation in southern Lebanon, including 11 trucks containing anti-tank missiles, launchers, grenades and assault rifles.

Overnight in southeastern Lebanon, an Israeli airstrike near the Syrian border killed three journalists and wounded several others, Lebanese media said. Israel targeted buildings rented by Hezbollah for field reporters covering the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel also warned that it will prevent fake news at Hizb’s expense and money.

Reporters from other media organizations, including Al-Jadeed, Sky News Arabic and Al Jazeera English, were also present when Israel launched the attack. Several media workers were injured. Lebanese Information Minister Ziad Makari accused Israel of deliberately targeting journalists who were sleeping at night. The Lebanese Minister of Information, Ziad Makari, accused that media workers who report against Israel are being killed and this is a war crime. In the meantime, Israel has destroyed Iran’s means of supplying weapons to Hezbollah, and Iran is transporting the weapons in trucks through Syria. Israel destroyed several crossings, bridges and highways between Lebanon and Syria.
