The Vatican has officially confirmed the cause of Pope Francis’ death. According to the Vatican’s official statement, the Pope, who had fallen into a coma following a stroke, later suffered a heart attack. The Vatican released this information after the official death confirmation procedures were completed on Sunday night.
A press release from the Vatican also revealed that he had been suffering from pneumonia, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and bronchitis.
The Pope passed away at 11:05 AM IST on Monday. He was 88 years old. After being hospitalized for 38 days due to pneumonia, he had returned to his residence on the 23rd of last month. He assumed the role of the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church on March 13, 2013, following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. He was the first Latin American to lead the Catholic Church.
