Priyanka Chopra and her husband, pop-star Nick Jonas, announced the Oscars 2021 nominations. The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony will be an in-person event that will air live from multiple locations on April 25. The nominations were announced in a two-part presentation by the power couple.
Priyanka Chopra posted a video on Instagram along with her husband Nick, before announcing the awards. “This is by far the coolest #WFH day ever! Tune in to any of @theacademy accounts at 5:19am PDT to watch us reveal the #OscarNoms! @nickjonas,” she wrote. The photos posted alongside the caption shows Nick and her posing with a large installation of the Oscar trophy and pretending to steal it. In another tweet, Priyanka congratulated all the nominees and thanked the Academy for giving her the opportunity. After the event Nick Jonas also tweeted, “So I got to announce the #OscarsNoms this morning with this beautiful woman, who also happens to now have produced and starred in an Oscar nominated film (The White Tiger). Congrats to all the nominees. I’ll be watching on April 25th. @priyankachopra”. Priyanka Chopra-starrer The White Tiger has received an Oscar nomination for Adapted Screenplay.
The Oscars will be held on April 25 (April 26 for India), two months later than usual because of the pandemic. Tyler Perry will receive the honorary Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award as will the Motion Picture and Television Fund. The Oscars were heavily criticised last year for overlooking women in the directing category and actors of colour – both were remedied in this year’s list.
