A 58-year-old head master and chief priest of a temple was arrested following a complaint of sexually assaulting 14 female students in Karkala, Karnataka. The police arrested Rajendra Achari (58), a native of Bola Vanjarakate, the headmaster of Barabailu Government Higher Primary School in Bola village. The police said that he is also the chief priest of Piliyur Ichodi Mahalingeshwar temple.
According to the complaint, between June 5, 2023 and April 3, 2024, he sexually assaulted female students continuously. He also reportedly harassed a student’s sister by sending obscene photos to her mobile phone.
There were several complaints of Rajendra Achari sexually harassing minor girls. Then the villagers warned him. But when the torture continued, the police was informed. The Udupi Women and Child Welfare Department (Child Welfare Unit) visited the school and conducted a thorough investigation.
