Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police has taken state-wide action against gangsters. The action was taken against 301 gangsters. 90 people involved in various crimes and 153 accused in the warrant case were arrested. The state police chief informed that 53 people have been detained and action has been taken against five people under Kappa Act.
Senior police officials reviewed the situation in a meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram under the chairmanship of the state police chief regarding the special drive. State police chief Dr Sheikh Darvesh Sahib instructed the Zonal IGs, Range DIGs and District Police Chiefs.
The DGP directed that immediate legal action should be taken in cases of violence against women and children. District police chiefs should give personal attention to cases taken up in connection with serious crimes and sensational cases. In such cases, review meetings should be held at regular intervals to arrest the accused. Strong action will be taken against those who sell and use drugs through social media and offline.
The cyber spaces of those who engage in suspicious activities will be under police surveillance. Night patrol system will be strengthened in the state. The control room will monitor the operations of the vehicles. The DGP directed the district police chiefs to check whether they are taking immediate action on the messages they receive.
