Candidates Chess; D Gukesh makes history as youngest to win World Chess Championship

D. Gukesh 17-year-old has become the youngest player to win the Candidates Chess Championship. After 13 rounds, the player took the lead alone, and in the 14th round, he tied his opponent and US star Hikaru Nakamura. With this, Gukesh has qualified for the competition to find the world champion.

In the 13th round of the match held in Toronto, Canada, Gukesh came close to the historic achievement by defeating the French player Alire Feroza. Gukesh and Nipom Niyashi were sharing the lead till the 12th round. The Indian teenager is leading the list of eight players with nine points. Nakamura, Russian star Ian Nepomniachi and US star Fabiano Caruana shared 8.5 each.
