China criticises meeting between US Envoy, Dalai Lama representative In Delhi

The Chinese Embassy in India strongly opposed the repeated provocative acts by the US after the Chargé d’Affaires Atul Keshap at US Embassy in New Delhi met with Ngodup Dongchung, representative of the Dalai Lama in New Delhi and said that the US respects “the Dalai Lama’s vision for equal rights of people.” After meeting Ngodup Dongchung, Mr Keshap said on Tuesday that the US supports the religious freedom and the preservation of cultural and linguistic identities of the Tibetan people.

In a series of tweets, Chinese embassy spokesperson Wang Xiaojian criticised the US for the meeting saying the Tibetan issue is China’s internal matter. “@USAmbIndia Strongly opposed to repeated provocative acts by the US. Tibetan affairs are purely China’s internal affairs that allow no foreign interference,” Xiaojian tweeted. “The US should honour its commitment, stop meddling in China’s internal affairs under the pretext of Tibetan affairs, offer no support to the ‘Tibetan independence’ forces to engage in anti-China separatist activities,” Wang said. The so-called “Tibetan government-in-exile” is a separatist political organization with an agenda to pursue “Tibetan independence” which is completely in violation of China’s Constitution and laws and is not recognized by any country, spokesperson of Chinese Embassy Counsellor Wang Xiaojian , said on his Twitter account on Wednesday. He also urged the US to honor its commitment, stop meddling in China’s internal affairs under the pretext of Tibetan affairs, and offer no support to the “Tibetan independence” forces to engage in anti-China separatist activities.
