Breaks Covid precaution: 72 fined 500 riyals each

A fine of 500 riyals has been imposed on those arrested for violating the Supreme Court directive. A Bahraini first instance court has sentenced 72 people to life in prison. The total fine was 36,000 riyals. They were arrested on September 25 during a gathering at the farmhouse. The public prosecution said it was not publishing the photos because the violation had taken place before the decision to publish the photos was made.

The public prosecution had yesterday begun the process of publishing the names and pictures of those convicted of Covid offenses. Courts in northern Sharqia and Buraimi have published pictures of convicts serving fines and imprisonment. The native was sentenced by a court in Buraimi. A primary court in Sur has sentenced eight foreigners to life in prison.

They were arrested for walking out during the night curfew. The health minister had said in a press conference yesterday that action would be taken against those violating the Kovid directives without any mercy. The minister had pointed out that it is the duty of every national and foreigner to report violations if they are noticed. Police surveillance has also been strengthened as part of the tightening of measures.
