Residents are required to register with the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) to return to the UAE. Some people who had arrived in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah the previous day were stranded inside the airport due to confusion. A high-powered committee has issued guidelines for returnees to Dubai. Returnees to Dubai must apply for an entry permit on the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai website. The certificate of COVID PCR negative test result from the approved center should be taken care of. Must have ‘COVID 19DXB Smart App’. The committee also said that holders of negative certificates do not need the mandatory 14 quarantine.
UAE for ResidentsOfficials says registration with the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) is mandatory to return to. When applying through https://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae, the passenger’s Emirates ID card number, passport number, passport-type and country must be entered accurately. After that, getting a green tick on the website means getting a UAE travel permit. Can’t travel if you get a red sign. Earlier in the day, UAE officials said they did not need a permit (print-out after registration) to replace the system. However, a green tick must be received after registration.
Many people are confused about this. Some people who arrived in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah the other day were stranded inside the airport for a long time. Five Malayalees on an Etihad flight in Abu Dhabi could not get out. They boarded the flight without completing the registration process. All but one of the four were repatriated by the Etihad at their own expense. One was released after 35 hours with special permission. Passengers from Karachi and Lucknow had a similar experience. Officials have strongly recommended that entry into the UAE be allowed only after registration is completed.
