A stampede broke out during a free food distribution at the Umayyad Mosque in Syria, resulting in the deaths of four people. According to Damascus Health Director Mohammad Akram Matouk, 16 people, including five children, were injured in the incident. Reports suggest that the chaos led to children being trapped and falling, with some suffering broken bones.
A large crowd gathered at the mosque due to the free meal distribution, and the stampede began soon after the food was handed out. Among the deceased, three are reported to be women. Damascus Governor Maher Marwan confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
