Punjab: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Gogi, the representative of Ludhiana West constituency, was found dead with gunshot wounds. The incident reportedly occurred between Friday midnight and early Saturday morning.
According to DCP Jaskaran Singh Teja, Gurpreet was rushed to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) hospital after being found with gunshot injuries, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
It remains unclear whether the MLA shot himself or if the firearm discharged accidentally. The exact cause of death will be determined after the postmortem report is released, the police stated.
Gurpreet Gogi, aged 58, joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022. In the subsequent legislative assembly elections, he defeated Congress’s sitting MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu to secure his seat.
