Helicopter Crashes into Hudson River; Six Dead Including Three Children

New York: A helicopter carrying tourists crashed into the Hudson River, resulting in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of all six people on board, including three children. The victims included a five-member family from Spain and the pilot.

Reports suggest that among the deceased were Siemens President and CEO Agustín Escobar, his wife, and their three children, although this has not been officially confirmed. According to officials, four victims died at the crash site, while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way during the rescue operation. All six were recovered from the river, but none could be saved, said Mayor Eric Adams, who described the incident as a deeply tragic accident.

Following the crash, police forces from both New York and New Jersey, along with fire department boats, rushed to the scene. According to NBC4, poor weather conditions likely prevented the pilot from maintaining control of the aircraft. The weather in New York at the time was heavily overcast.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing one of the rotor blades detach from the helicopter before it plunged into the river. Video footage circulating on social media shows parts of the aircraft breaking apart as it crashes into the Hudson.

Commenting on the incident, former U.S. President Donald Trump said, “The helicopter crash in the Hudson River was horrific. The pilot, the parents, and three children are gone. We have lost them. The footage of the crash is terrifying.”
