Thiruvananthapuram: One of the world’s largest cargo ships, MSC Turkey, has arrived at the Vizhinjam International Seaport — marking a historic moment as it is the first time this vessel has docked at any port in South Asia. The ship arrived from Singapore.
MSC Turkey is considered one of the world’s largest and most eco-friendly cargo vessels. It measures 399.93 meters in length, 61.33 meters in width, and has a depth of 33.5 meters. Since 1995, it has been transporting cargo across all major global sea routes.
In just eight months, the Vizhinjam Port has handled approximately 2.5 lakh containers. The port is expected to be officially commissioned by the end of this month.
