Police did not file chargesheet, CPM activists bailed in Panur blast case

Kannur: CPM and DYFI workers granted bail in Pannur bomb blast case as police did not submit charge sheet. Thalassery court granted bail to Arun, Shibin Lal and Atul.

CPM activist Sherril was killed and another CPM activist Valiyaparambath Vineesh was seriously injured in the early morning bomb blast on 5th April. 13 CPM workers including 3 DYFI unit office bearers were arrested in the case. There are a total of 15 accused in the case, including the deceased Sherrill.

The remand reports of the police in the bomb blast case were all over the place. In the first 3 remand reports, the police alleged that the bomb was made to target the general election and political opponents, but in the subsequent 3 remand reports, the police did not mention this. The police, who did not mention the clash between 2 local groups in the first 3 reports, in the other 3 reports alleged that this was the reason for making the bomb.

Criticisms are being raised that the accused have been granted bail because of the negligence of the police. When the Lok Sabha elections were about to be held, the explosion occurred while making a bomb in an empty house. The CPM leaders tried to deny the matter by saying that the party had no role in making the bomb, but the local leaders of the CPM reached the house of Sherrill, who was killed.
