Over the past 12 years as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis has been hospitalized multiple times. In March 2023, he was admitted for three days due to bronchitis.
Speculation had previously arisen about whether health concerns might lead the Pope to resign. However, he dismissed these rumors, stating that the Church is led not by physical strength but by intellect and heart. Concerns over his health grew when he appointed an aide to read his speeches on his behalf.
