Pope Remains in Critical Condition, but Responding to Treatment; Says Doctors

Doctors have provided an update on Pope Francis’ health, as he continues treatment at Gemelli Hospital in Rome for over a week. While the Pope is responding to treatment, doctors stated that his condition remains critical. He is still experiencing breathing difficulties, but he is able to speak. Doctors also mentioned that he may have to remain in the hospital for another week.

Pope Francis, 88, was admitted to the hospital last Friday due to severe respiratory distress. He was undergoing treatment and tests for bronchitis. The Vatican had earlier confirmed that he was suffering from a severe lung infection.

The Pope, diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs, is currently receiving antibiotic treatment. The Vatican previously reported that his lung infection has shown signs of improvement during treatment.
