Police raided the houses of I2I channel owner Suni Mathew and his relatives. The raid took place last day, night and this morning. Sunil had given the news that the death of Mar Athanasius Metropolitan, President of the Believers Eastern Church, was a murder. The news given by Sunil was that KP Yohannan was killed in a planned manner. KP Yohannan died in a car accident in America. Then he was brought to Kerala and cremated
The police action is based on the complaint filed by Thiruvananthapuram Bhadrasana head Mar Mathews Silvanios pointing out that KP Yohannan has insulted the physical body of His Holiness by giving such news when he was lying dead and has caused a lot of pain to the church and others. On the basis of the complaint, Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police registered an FIR against Sunil Mathew under IPC 153, 120 – B, 506, Kerala Police Act 120 (0) and non-bailable section under IPC 384.
Bishop Silvanios revealed that Sunil Mathew had threatened to contact him not to give three news reports that the accidental death of KP Yohannan was a planned murder. The complaint states that while paying respect even to the dead body of the hanged heinous criminal, they celebrated and tried to take advantage of the physical body of the church president who died in the accident. But Sunil says that the police are hunting him and they are doing injustice to him.
