Sub-treasury fraud case: Accountant Vijayaraj arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: Accountant Vijayaraj, who was under suspension in the financial fraud that took place at Kazhakootam sub-treasury, has been arrested. Accountant (Treasurer) M.Mujeeb, Junior Superintendent NS Shali, Senior Accountant B.Girishkumar, Junior Accountant N.Shajahan, SV Vijayaraj and Junior Superintendent SS Suja were suspended in connection with the forgery of cheques. .

The inspection team of the Finance Department found that the accused officers had committed fraud by using fake checks from various accounts, including those of the deceased. The incident came to light when 2.5 lakhs was stolen from M. Mohanakumari, a resident of Srikariyam, using a fake cheque.

As per the office order, M. Mujeeb will take charge when the chief treasurer enters the leave of the 2 existing treasurers in Kazhakootam sub-treasury. He took charge for 7 days from April to June and illegally withdrew more than 15 lakh rupees. It was found that these transactions were done for 3 to 5 seconds.The Chief Treasurer had already informed Mujeeb about the leave.

Immediately the boss was misled and the treasurer got permission for the option. The chief treasurer, who said he would report for duty on another day, was forced back. The hack was done by logging into the treasury application on the IP-based computer allotted to Mujeeb after assuming office.
