U.S. airstrike on Houthi targets in Yemen kills 38

A U.S. airstrike targeted Houthi positions in Yemen, with reports stating that 38 people were killed in the attack. According to reports, this is the most destructive strike carried out by the U.S. against Houthi targets so far. The attack was launched on the Ras Issa fuel port in Yemen.

The U.S. reportedly aimed to destroy the Houthis’ fuel distribution network through this strike. The Houthis claimed that 38 people were killed and 102 injured in the incident. However, the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has not yet commented on the death toll.

U.S. Central Command stated that the strike on the Ras Issa fuel port was intended to cripple the Houthis’ economic infrastructure. The broader goal of the U.S. operations against Houthi targets in Yemen is to curb the group’s attacks that disrupt the movement of cargo ships in the Red Sea.

Thursday’s attack is part of a series of operations that began last month. A previous airstrike in March had reportedly killed 50 people. The U.S. has warned that further attacks will be carried out if the Houthis continue targeting cargo ships in the Red Sea.
