World War 3 just a step away, Putin warns after victory

Moscow: Vladimir Putin has retained power by winning the Russian presidential election for the fifth time. Putin won with 87.97 percent of the votes. Russian President Vladimir Putin says World War III is just a step away. He was addressing the people after the election victory.

Russia and the US Putin also warned of the possibility of a third world war if relations with the NATO-led military alliance deteriorate. Putin added that World War III is only a step forward and that such a situation should not arise.

Communist candidate Nikolai Kharitonov came in second with four percent of the vote, while newcomer Vladislav came third and ultra-nationalist candidate Leonid Slutsky fourth. French President Emmanuel Macron has said that it is not possible for Russia to win against Ukraine and that Putin will not be able to rule by deploying the army in Ukraine in the future. This is followed by Putin’s response.

Russia’s presidential election ended with Vladimir Putin guaranteed a fifth term in office. Exit polls released late at night showed Putin winning 87.97% of the vote. The official result announcement will be in May. However, it is not much different from the exit polls that follow the polls.
