An investigation report reveals a doctor’s negligence in performing surgery on a four-year-old girl’s tongue instead of her finger

Kozhikode: In the incident where a four-year-old girl was operated on a tongue instead of a finger, the doctor made a mistake, according to an investigation report. This is in the preliminary inquiry report submitted to the Medical College Superintendent D.M.E.

The surgery was done because of problems with the child’s tongue. However, the relatives were not informed about the matter before the tongue surgery, according to the report. The report also points out that it should have been communicated orally. The police will write to the DMO with the demand to join the medical board. The statement of the doctor who performed the surgery will be recorded on Saturday.

On Thursday morning, the daughter of the natives of Cheruvannur Madurabazar, who sought treatment for her finger, underwent surgery to change her tongue tie. As the incident became controversial, the Health Minister sought an urgent report and Associate Professor Dr. Bjon Johnson was also suspended.
