Centre Cracks Down: Two Senior IPS Officers Face Disciplinary Action for Maligning Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose

The central government has taken action against 2 senior IPS officers who took action against Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose. The Center has taken disciplinary action against 2 IPS officers in Bengal. Union Home Ministry disciplinary action against Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and DCP Indira Mukherjee for defaming the office of the West Bengal Governor and spreading defamation. This was reported by PTI news agency quoting a senior official of the central government.

This is also a warning to the IPS/IAS officers who are disgusted by the sight of central ministers and governors in Kerala. If the opponent is strong, work from the center. Because ISS and others are central services. Disciplinary action and punishment in Central service is not decided by the State Government.

Now the chairs of the IS who had moved against the Bengal Raj Bhavan and Dr CV Anand Bose have been thrown. The action was based on a report submitted by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose to the Home Minister in the last week of June against Goyal and Kolkata Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Indira Mukherjee.

The guilty IPS officers were identified by an internal investigation conducted by the Raj Bhavan police without any assistance and reported to the central government. It should also be mentioned that the Governor directly reported to the Center against the IPS officers. Officials in Bengal also forgot that they were playing against a man who had sat up to the rank of Chief Secretary in the IAS.

In his report, the Governor brought to the notice of the Center the problems arising from Kolkata Police officials not allowing the victims of post-election violence in Bengal to meet the Governor despite the Raj Bhavan giving necessary permission.

Based on that detailed report, the Union Home Ministry has initiated disciplinary action against the IPS officers, officials said. A copy of the letter has been sent to the state government on July 4, he added.

The Governor of Bengal alleged in the report that some other police officers assigned to the Raj Bhavan and a woman temporary employee of the Raj Bhavan had encouraged fabricated allegations in April-May 2024 and tried to defame the Raj Bhavan.

The governor had pointed out that “these IPS officers have not only tarnished the office of the governor by their actions, but also acted unbecoming of a public servant and violated the code of conduct”.

Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had stayed the sexual harassment case filed by Mamata Banerjee and the police against West Bengal Governor Dr CV Anandabose. The High Court also criticized Mamata Banerjee and the Bengal Police in the sexual harassment complaint against the West Bengal Governor.

The Governor has constitutional powers. Mamata’s government violated that authority by filing false cases against the governor and harassing Raj Bhavan officials. The High Court ruled that all these measures were illegal. Now the central government has taken action against the IAS officers who conspired to insult the Raj Bhavan.
