Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet has approved the Wayanad rehabilitation project, adopting around 30 decisions related to its implementation. It was resolved to complete the project within a fixed timeframe. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address the media at 3:30 PM today to provide further details.
The project includes constructing rehabilitation housing across two townships at an estimated cost of ₹750 crore. Measures to ensure timely execution of the work were also discussed in today’s Cabinet meeting. The specifics of the project, including decisions and timelines, will be detailed in the press conference.
According to the draft master plan, the houses will be single-story structures with a floor area of 1,000 square feet. Dedicated agencies will oversee the project’s execution, with their roles and responsibilities finalized in the Cabinet meeting.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s first-phase meetings with those promising to construct houses begin today, starting with representatives from the Karnataka government. The initial discussions will focus on delivering 50 houses, with further meetings scheduled afterward. The opposition leader and other stakeholders are also expected to participate in these discussions.
