The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across all districts of Kerala today, although no special alert has been issued. Last night, a yellow alert was declared in 11 districts following widespread heavy rain across the state. The IMD has indicated that this pattern of heavy rain is expected to continue over the coming days.
Early this morning, thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong winds were reported in Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts. Isolated showers were also experienced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Kasaragod districts. According to the IMD, the state is likely to experience continued heavy rainfall for the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued for three districts on Tuesday.
The IMD also warned that on May 5 and 6, isolated places may experience thunderstorms with rain and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. On May 3 and 4, similar conditions are expected with wind speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.
